After the flood – Winter is coming.

Winter is coming.
Once the waters have settled, we see the devastation – of land, of buildings – and to my people. The Government, national and local, have done good work, as have the military, police and emergency services. They will continue to do so. Yet the need is varied and great.

Two (of many) fringe groups are:
1. Single mothers & their children.
2. The elderly (often alone).

My plan is to produce a range of warm and robust jackets, to meet the coming winter – under the brand: Steps. These will be produced in Nepal, to be economic, suitable to purpose, and provide jobs for the workers.

Step by Step
1. We purchase material from the local market- with your money.
2. Utilize our friend’s factory, with modern machines & skilled workers.
3. Jackets: 3 children sizes, 3 lady sizes, 2 mens sizes.
All produced before we reach Nepal.
4. We distribute to single mothers and their children, and the elderly/infirm (a needy man in the same group would receive help too).

I, with three friends, will travel to Nepal 2 October – we pay our own expenses – so all funds go to the project. With our local knowledge, contact network, and working with local health authorities, we will in advance have a list of those most in need in the area. We can not help everyone, here is a needed attempt to reach those in need who have been overlooked by the present ongoing aid help.

Thanking everyone in advance – Beni (Rani Ghale).

Corona Prevention and Treatment Workshop

From Beni in Kathmandu

Lou (Steps), Gomba (Mountain People), and I returned three days ago from a ’Health and Hygiene’ trip to the northern district of Dading. We received free use of a 4-wheel-drive-jeep (just paid for diesel) and kept ourselves in isolation at each village (own room, food, etc) so we did not spread the virus or bring it back.

Borrowed Jeep – Team Tea Break

At each village/town, we met with a health or school representative and held
a ’Corona Prevention and Treatment Workshop.’ Here, using Mountain People/Elevate two posters we led the health workers through:

1. Prevention of spread
2. Home and hospital treatments.

The representative will hold workshops at the school and health post for
the local people – using our posters – and distribute the face masks.

With local nursing staff

Mountain People/Elevate designed/produced two posters – useful as a teaching tool

Many had the virus, but called it influenza, as they feared going to the
health post. With health workers, we visited groups to inform them of
the importance of visiting the health post for a diagnosis, vaccine, and treatment.
